Description:

Leaves: The leaves are large, oval and intense green. They are arranged in a spiral around the central stem and can reach sizes of up to 60-90 cm in length. The leaves are thin, glossy and have prominent veins.
Stem: The stem is short, thick and formed by the petioles of overlapping leaves. This structure gives the plant a robust and compact appearance.
Dimensions: Musa 'Oriental Dwarf' can reach heights of approximately 1-1.5 meters, which makes it ideal for smaller spaces, such as apartments, terraces or balconies.
Flowers: The banana tree produces large inflorescences, which are usually purple or deep red. The flowers are grouped in clusters and can produce small, edible fruits, although the plant is grown mainly for its ornamental appearance.

Care:

The light:
- Preferences: Musa 'Oriental Dwarf' prefers indirect, bright light. It can also tolerate direct sunlight, but for short periods of time. It is ideal to be placed near a window facing east or west.
- Avoidance: Avoid exposure to intense sun for long periods, which can cause burns on the leaves.
Soil:
- Soil type: I prefer a well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. A mix of potting soil with compost and perlite or sand is ideal to ensure good drainage and prevent excessive waterlogging.
- Amendments: Add compost or organic fertilizer to improve soil fertility.
Watering:
- Frequency: Watering must be regular. Keep the soil evenly moist, but not saturated. During the period of active growth (spring and summer), water the plant twice a week. In winter, reduce the frequency of watering.
- Method: Water the plant at the base to avoid wetting the leaves, which can lead to fungal diseases.
Temperature:
- Optimal range: Musa 'Oriental Dwarf' prefers temperatures between 18-30°C. It is sensitive to cold and does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C.
- Protection: In regions with cold winters, it is recommended to bring the plant indoors or protect it from frost.
Moisture:
- Preferences: The plant prefers a high level of humidity. In dry air conditions, periodically spray the leaves with water or use a humidifier to maintain an optimal level of humidity.
Fertilization:

Multiplication:
- Methods: Musa 'Oriental Dwarf' is propagated by separating the young that appear at the base of the mature plant. Take the cuttings with developed roots and plant them in well-drained soil.
- Procedure: Separate the seedlings from the mother plant with a sharp knife and plant them in a separate pot, making sure that the roots are well covered with soil.
