Thrixspermum hystrix (miniatura)
Thrixspermum hystrix is an epiphytic orchid from the Orchidaceae family, native to Southeast Asia, including the Andaman Islands, Nicobar, Thailand, Laos, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and the Philippines. It grows in humid tropical forests, at low to medium altitudes. It has short or elongated stems, flat, fleshy leaves arranged in two rows, and hanging or curved flower clusters.
The flowers, fragrant, are small (about 1 cm), yellow or cream-colored, sometimes white, with a delicate, spider-like appearance, and bloom throughout the year, more frequently in spring. The plant prefers medium light, high humidity, and a well-drained substrate, being suitable for mounting on supports or hanging pots.
