Liliac pitic - Syringa meyeri 'Red Pixie'
Syringa meyeri 'Red Pixie' - a small-sized variety with a compact growth habit forming a dense bush reaching about 150 cm in height.
Unlike the common lilac known in Romania (Syringa josikaea or Hungarian lilac), this variety blooms much more abundantly, with the entire bush practically covered in flowers.
The flowers are smaller but appear in much greater numbers, and the contrast between the unopened buds and the open flowers is quite striking. The scent is also delightful - sweet, strong, with specific floral notes.
This variety tends to bloom again freely throughout the summer.
Optimal placement. The plant loves direct sunlight - this also contributes to the abundance of blooms, but it can adapt to partially shaded areas as well. Periodic watering is necessary during the first year after planting until it develops a strong root system. It tolerates poor/nutrient-deficient soils well. It can be fertilized with any general-purpose fertilizer. A very hardy variety - not significantly affected by diseases or pests.
Height including pot: approx. 40-60 cm (depending on season and horticultural work)
Pot diameter: 19 cm
