Streptocarpus 'Carina'

Streptocarpus ‘Carina’ is a hybrid variety of Streptocarpus, also known as “Cape Primrose”, valued for its delicate and attractive flowers. It is ideal as a houseplant, featuring a long flowering period and an elegant appearance.

🔹 Botanical characteristics:

• Form: A compact perennial plant with green, velvety, slightly wrinkled leaves arranged in a rosette at the base.

🔹 Recommended growing conditions:

• Light: Prefers bright indirect light, protected from direct sunlight.

• Soil: Light, well-drained, and rich in organic matter – similar to that used for African violets.

• Watering: Regular, keeping the soil slightly moist. Avoid overwatering.

• Temperature: Streptocarpus ‘Carina’ prefers a warm and stable environment, sheltered from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Exposure to cold or very low temperatures, especially in the cold season, is not recommended. It thrives best indoors, in a protected and thermally stable space.

• Humidity: Moderate. The pot can be placed on a layer of damp gravel to maintain humidity.

• Fertilizing: Every 2 weeks, with diluted liquid fertilizer during the growing period.

• Propagation: By leaf cuttings or dividing the clump, in spring.

• Care: Remove wilted flowers and aged leaves to encourage continuous blooming.
