Sarracenia leucophylla (planta ulcior)

Sarracenia leucophylla , also known as the white pitcher plant or sarracenia alba , is one of the most spectacular species of carnivorous perennial plants. It is distinguished by its tall, slender and elegant pitchers , creamy white with red-purple veins , which attract insects through strong contrast and nectar production. It is native to the southeastern United States and is recognized for its high insect-catching capacity and distinctive ornamental appearance .

The pitchers attract insects through their color and nectar. Once inside, they slip inside and cannot get out, being slowly digested by natural enzymes. The plant thus feeds on essential nutrients from the insects.
