Rosa 'Cream Flower Circus'® - Trandafir floribunda parfumat
Rosa 'Cream Flower Circus'® , also known as Rosa 'Garden of Roses' or 'Korfloci01', is a floribunda rose in the Rosaceae family, developed by W. Kordes' Söhne in 1997. Renowned for its double, cream-pink flowers and delicate fragrance, this compact cultivar is ideal for borders, containers, patios or small gardens. It has won numerous awards, including gold at Nagasaki (2011) and the title of 'Rose of the Year' from The British Horticultural Society , for its continuous flowering and hardiness.
Appearance of leaves and flowers
- Leaves : The leaves are ovate, pinnate, 5-lobed, dark green, glossy, with serrated edges. The foliage is healthy, disease-resistant, and forms a dense background for the flowers.
- Flowers : The flowers are double, rosette-shaped, with a diameter of 6-8 cm, formed by ruffled petals, of a pale cream with a light pink or peach-apricot center. The fragrance is delicate, with subtle notes specific to roses. They bloom in large clusters, from June to September, with continuous flowering. The flowers are resistant, also suitable for floral arrangements, due to their stunning appearance and color.
Growth characteristics
- Height and width : Reaches 50-80 cm in height and 40-50 cm in width, forming a compact, erect shrub with short branches.
- Vigor : Moderate growth, ideal for small spaces. It is vigorous, with thorny stems that support the flowers well.
- Type : Deciduous evergreen shrub, with leaves falling in winter.
Growing conditions
- Exposure : Prefers full sun (6+ hours/day) for maximum flowering, but tolerates partial shade, where it blooms less abundantly.
- Soil : Grows in fertile, moist, well-drained soils with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0). Add compost or well-rotted manure when planting. Does not tolerate heavy or waterlogged soils.
- Watering : Water regularly, keeping the soil moist but not soggy. Water deeply at the root, especially in the first year and during dry periods.
- Temperature : Hardy in zones 5-9 (down to -23°C), suitable for temperate climates, including Romania. Mulch the base of the plant in winter in cold areas.
Care and resistance
- Resistance : Very resistant to diseases such as black spot or powdery mildew, requiring minimal chemical protection. Can be affected by aphids; treat with organic methods. Tolerates wind and rain well.
- Fertilization : Apply a rose fertilizer (e.g. 10-10-10) in spring and monthly through August. Avoid fertilizing in fall.
- Pruning : Prune in the fall, removing dead or weak branches and shortening healthy stems to 3-5 buds. Remove faded flowers to encourage blooming.
- Propagation : Propagate by woody cuttings in autumn or grafting. Seeds are not viable.
