Rosa 'Cream Flower Circus'® - Trandafir floribunda parfumat
Rosa 'Cream Flower Circus'®, also known by the synonyms Rosa 'Garden of Roses' or 'Korfloci01', is a floribunda rose from the Rosaceae family, developed by W. Kordes' Söhne in 1997. Renowned for its double, creamy-pink flowers and delicate scent, this compact cultivar is ideal for borders, containers, terraces, or small gardens. It has won numerous awards, including gold at Nagasaki (2011) and the title of “Rose of the Year” from The British Horticultural Society, due to its continuous blooming and hardiness.
Appearance of leaves and flowers
- Leaves: The leaves are ovate, pinnate, with 5 leaflets, dark green, glossy, with serrated edges. The foliage is healthy, disease-resistant, and forms a dense background for the flowers.
- Flowers: The flowers are double, rosette-shaped, 6-8 cm in diameter, made up of ruffled petals, pale cream with a light pink or peach-apricot center. The scent is delicate, with subtle notes typical of roses. They bloom in large clusters from June to September, with continuous flowering. The flowers are sturdy, also suitable for floral arrangements due to their striking appearance and color.
Growth characteristics
- Height and width: Reaches 50-80 cm in height and 40-50 cm in width, forming a compact, upright shrub with short branches.
- Vigor: Moderate growth, ideal for small spaces. It is vigorous, with thorny stems that support the flowers well.
- Type: Deciduous perennial shrub, with leaves falling in winter.
Growing conditions
- Exposure: Prefers full sun (6+ hours/day) for maximum flowering but tolerates partial shade, where it blooms less abundantly.
- Soil: Grows in fertile, moist, well-drained soils, with slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0). Add compost or well-rotted manure at planting. Does not tolerate heavy or waterlogged soils.
- Watering: Water regularly, keeping the soil moist but not wet. Water deeply at the roots, especially in the first year and during dry periods.
- Temperature: Hardy in zones 5-9 (down to -23°C), suitable for temperate climates, including Romania. Mulch the base of the plant in winter in cold areas.
Care and resistance
- Resistance: Very resistant to diseases such as black spot or powdery mildew, requiring minimal chemical protection. May be affected by aphids; treat with organic methods. Tolerates wind and rain well.
- Fertilizing: Apply a rose fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10) in spring and monthly until August. Avoid fertilizing in autumn.
- Pruning: Prune in autumn, removing dry or weak branches and cutting healthy stems back to 3-5 buds. Remove faded flowers to encourage blooming.
- Propagation: Propagated by hardwood cuttings in autumn or by grafting. Seeds are not viable.
