Melocactus maxonii 'Inermis' is a rare form of the species Melocactus maxonii , native to Central and South America, particularly appreciated for its lack of thorns (inermis = "thornless"). The body is globular, glossy green, furrowed by well-defined ribs. At maturity, a characteristic cephalium is formed in the upper part - a cylindrical, woolly structure, pink-reddish in color, from which small, pink-magenta flowers appear.
