Lobivia winteriana is a small to medium-sized cactus, valued for its spectacular and colorful flowers that appear during the warm season. It belongs to the genus Lobivia, which includes several species of cacti native to South America.

Description:

Family: Cactaceae

Origin: South America (Argentina, Bolivia)

Size: Grows up to approximately 10-15 cm in height and 8-12 cm in diameter

Shape: The stem is globular or slightly cylindrical, dark green in color, with well-defined ribs and areoles covered with short spines.

Flowers: Produces large, spectacular flowers that appear in spring and summer. The flowers are tubular and can reach up to 10 cm in diameter.

Growth: It has slow growth and is suitable both for succulent gardens and for pot cultivation.

Care:

Light: Prefers direct sun or strong indirect light. It can tolerate partial shade, but flowering will be reduced.

Soil: Requires a well-drained substrate, made of cactus soil and sand.

Watering: Water moderately in the warm season, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, watering should be reduced or stopped completely to prevent root rot.

Temperature: It withstands temperatures down to 5°C but must be protected from frost. In cold climates, it is recommended to keep it indoors during winter.

Propagation: It propagates by seeds or basal shoots, which can be separated and replanted.

Lobivia winteriana is an excellent choice for cactus lovers, due to its impressive flowers and relatively easy care.
