Eucalipt - Eucalyptus nicholii (Willow Peppermint, Menta Neagra)
Eucalyptus nicholii, also known as "Narrow-leaved Black Peppermint" or "Willow Peppermint," is a tree native to Australia. It can reach heights of 15-20 meters (under ideal conditions) and is known for its graceful shape and narrow, lance-shaped leaves. The leaves are green-silver in color and give off a distinctive scent that can be described as a mix of mint and pepper when crushed. The size and shape of the plant can be controlled by occasional pruning.
Eucalyptus nicholii is valued for its adaptability to a variety of soils and climate conditions, including drought. It is often used in forest plantations, as an ornamental tree in gardens and parks, and for soil stabilization. It is also a source of essential oil, which is used in aromatherapy and other medicinal applications.
The tree produces white or cream flowers, which appear in clusters and attract a variety of pollinators, including bees. The wood is hard and durable, used in construction and furniture making.
Because of its aesthetic appearance and useful properties, Eucalyptus nicholii is a popular choice for landscaping and ecological restoration projects.
It does not require special soil and is resistant to diseases and pests, being naturally considered "pest free." It withstands temperatures down to -14 °C without needing winter protection. In case of harsher frost, the leaves may fall, but the plant recovers in the next growing season.
Height including pot: approx. 40-60 cm
Pot diameter: 13-15 cm
During the warm season, these plants may arrive with damaged foliage (tips/dry leaves) – this is due to transport and represents only an aesthetic flaw.
Recommendation: We recommend planting the eucalyptus in the garden or in large pots placed outdoors during the summer. It is an outdoor plant and does not do well long-term in small pots. Do not expose the plant to strong sunlight before planting.
