Episcia cupreata 'Neon Suprise'

Episcia is a genus of perennial tropical plants, related to the African violet (from the Gesneriaceae family), appreciated both for their ornamental foliage and for their colorful and delicate flowers. Native to Central and South America, these plants are ideal for indoor cultivation, in warm and humid places.

🔹 Botanical characteristics:

• Habit: A creeping or trailing plant, forming dense mats. It is ideal for hanging pots or as a ground cover plant in terrariums.

• Leaves: Decorative, velvety, with varied patterns and spectacular colors – green, bronze, silver, burgundy, or with contrasting edges. The leaves are oval and have prominent veins.

• Flowers: Small in size, in shades of red, orange, yellow, pink, or violet, with a tubular shape and delicate petals. They can appear throughout the year, especially under optimal light and humidity conditions.

🔹 Recommended growing conditions:

• Light: Prefers indirect but strong light. Direct sunlight can burn the leaves. It also grows well under artificial light.

• Soil: Light, well-drained, rich in organic matter – ideally a mix for African violets.

• Watering: Moderate – keep the substrate slightly moist but not soaked. Avoid watering directly on the leaves.

• Temperature: Feels good in warm and stable environments. Does not tolerate temperatures below 15°C for long periods.

• Humidity: High – fine misting, use of water trays, or cultivation in terrariums is recommended.

• Fertilization: Every 2–4 weeks during the active period, with diluted fertilizer for flowering plants.

• Propagation: Easily propagated by stolons (runners) that root upon contact with soil, as well as by stem cuttings.

• Toxicity: Considered non-toxic to humans and pets.

• Usage: Suitable for hanging pots, terrariums, indoor gardens, and spaces with increased humidity.
