Full description and specifications

Elaeagnus umbellata Pointilla® 'Amoroso' is a variety known for its red, edible fruits full of vitamins. It is also popularly called "Autumn olive" or Russian olive, but the taste of the fruit has nothing to do with olives.

Here are some characteristics of this shrub:

1. Appearance . It is a leafy shrub that can reach a height of 3-4 meters. The leaves are oval, dark green, and on the back they have a silvery hue, giving a decorative appearance.

2. Fruits . The fruits are small, round, intense red in color and have a sweet, sometimes sour taste, without astringency. They are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. They form in bunches and can be eaten raw or processed into various culinary products.

3. Flowering . It blooms in spring, with small, yellow-white flowers, arranged in clusters, which are fragrant and attract pollinating insects.

4. Soil and Climate . It is a resistant shrub that tolerates a variety of soils, including poor and dry ones. I prefer well-drained soils and exposure to the sun or semi-shade. It is resistant to drought and low temperatures.

5. Use . Besides its decorative value, Elaeagnus umbellata Pointilla® 'Amoroso' is appreciated for its fruits, which can be used in culinary preparations such as jams, juices or fresh. It is also used in gardens and landscaping to form hedges or as an isolated plant due to its attractive appearance.

6. Care . It needs regular pruning to maintain its shape and to stimulate fruit production. It has no special care requirements and is relatively easy to grow.

Cold resistance : It is a very resistant plant, able to tolerate a wide range of soils and climatic conditions, including drought. Holds well until -29°C.

Pot size: 19 cm
