Coelogyne fimbriata is a miniature Asian species, valued for its discreet, fragrant flowers with fringed lips and its compact growth. It is suitable for a small pot or airy basket, where the roots can remain healthy without sitting in water.

Light and temperature. It prefers medium, filtered light, without strong direct sun. It adapts well to intermediate temperatures; good ventilation is important during warm periods.

Watering and fertilizing. During growth, keep the substrate slightly moist, then allow it to approach dryness between waterings. Do not let the small pseudobulbs become completely dehydrated. Use diluted orchid fertilizer during the active season.

Substrate and repotting. Fine bark, a little sphagnum, and good drainage are safer than a heavy mix. Repot when new roots appear, without dividing the plant unnecessarily. You can use substrate for vigorous-growing orchids, adjusted with finer material if necessary.

Signs to watch for. Wrinkled pseudobulbs indicate thirst or damaged roots; yellowing leaves and soft bases usually indicate stagnant water.
