Clematite - Clematis 'Rouge Cardinal' (Late Large-flowered Group)
Clematis 'Rouge Cardinal' - An enchanting clematis that impresses with its deep velvety wine-red flowers when they first open, which then transform into a rich purplish-maroon as the blooms mature.
Classification: Late Large-flowered Group
Growing recommendations:
This type of clematis prefers good quality soil, rich in nutrients, moist but well-drained. It is recommended to improve the soil with manure or compost at planting time, if possible. For cultivation in drier soils that tend to dry out quickly, cover the base with a layer of shredded bark (or another type of mulch) to help retain soil moisture.
Clematis generally prefer a growing space with good sun exposure.
It is not necessary to remove the faded flowers of these clematis, but if they seem to have finished blooming earlier than expected, a light pruning can encourage new growth and a secondary bloom late in the fall.
During the cold season, the plants appear as leafless, dry-looking stems – this is perfectly normal and the plants remain fully viable.
Height including pot: approx. 60-100 cm
