The flower size ranges between 10 and 15 cm.
Classification: Late Large-flowered Group
Growing recommendations:
This type of clematis prefers good quality soil, rich in nutrients, moist but well drained. It is recommended to improve the soil with manure or compost at planting, as much as possible. In the case of growing in drier soils, which tend to dry out quickly, cover the base with a layer of shredded bark (or another type of mulch) to retain soil moisture.
Clematis generally prefer a growing place with good sun exposure.
It is not necessary to remove the withered flowers of these clematis, but if they seem to have finished blooming earlier than expected, a light pruning will encourage new growth and a second flowering late in autumn.
In the cold season, the plants appear as leafless sticks that seem dry – this is perfectly normal and the plants are fully alive.
