Aquilegia caerulea , also known as the mountain columbine or blue columbine , is an elegant perennial plant native to the mountainous regions of North America, prized for its spectacular bicolor flowers , with elongated petals and curved spur-shaped sepals. The flowers are often in shades of blue, purple, white or pink , with a delicate and romantic appearance, very attractive to butterflies and bees .

The plant forms a compact, branched bush with fine, compound, matte green leaves. At maturity, it reaches a height of approximately 50–70 cm , making it ideal for borders, borders, rustic, naturalistic or cottage gardens .

🌿 Growing conditions

Light : Partial shade or partial sun – blooms well in bright places, but away from the scorching sun.

Soil : Light, well-drained, rich in humus – prefers cool, airy soils.
