Noble semi-silver fir - Abies koreana
Abies koreana , also known as the Korean fir, is a conifer native to the mountainous regions of South Korea. This species is appreciated both for its relatively compact size and for its decorative appearance, being often used in gardens, parks and as an ornamental tree, including as a Christmas tree .
The Korean fir grows up to a height of 10-18 meters in the natural environment, but rarely exceeds 10 meters in gardens. It has a conical, symmetrical crown, and the branches are dense and arranged horizontally. The leaves are acicular, short, dark green on the upper side and with two distinct white stripes on the lower side, which gives it a contrasting and attractive appearance.
One of the outstanding features of this fir is its decorative cones, which appear at a relatively young age. They are small, cylindrical, with a length of 4-7 cm, and acquire an intense violet-purple color before ripening, making it particularly attractive in the landscape.
Abies koreana prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soils, and cool and semi-shaded places. It is resistant to cold and can be grown in temperate climates, being ideal for landscaping due to its slow growth and special ornamental appearance.
Indoor storage conditions: This fir tree is an outdoor plant, but it can also be kept indoors during the holidays, provided it is placed in a cool area (e.g. a closed/open balcony), well ventilated and watered when the substrate it is dry. It does NOT tolerate high temperatures well.
Height with pots included: 80+ cm. The measurement is made from the ground to the top of the tree.
Pot diameter: 24 cm
The pictures are informative - they are natural firs, each copy is unique and has a different shape/development. The transport pot can be damaged/cracked due to the weight of the substrate and the plant.
