Dracaena - Dracaena marginata ‘Magenta’

Dracaena marginata ‘Magenta’, also known as Dracaena Magenta, is an indoor plant with an exotic and upright appearance, valued for its thin, curved foliage of dark green color with dark burgundy to purple edges. It is a modern and elegant variety of Dracaena marginata, ideal for minimalist or tropical decorations.

🔹 Botanical features:

• Form: A perennial plant with thin, tall, and stiff stems (like a trunk), which can grow singly or branched. It can reach heights of 1–2 meters in a pot but grows slowly.

• Leaves: Long, narrow, and pointed, arranged in a rosette at the top of the stem. The color is dark green with red-purple or magenta edges, hence the name. The leaves have a glossy and textured look, offering a light and architectural decorative effect.

• Stem: Woody, tall, with the appearance of a thin trunk. The plant can also be grown as a “tree” with one or more stalks.

🔹 Recommended growing conditions:

• Light: Prefers indirect light but tolerates partial shade. In lower light, growth is slower, and the colored edges may become less vivid. Avoid strong direct sunlight.

• Watering: Moderate. Water when the top layer of soil is dry. Excess water should be avoided as it can cause root or stem rot.

• Soil: Well-drained, loose, with peat and perlite or sand. The substrate must allow quick water drainage.

• Humidity: Easily adapts to normal indoor humidity. Occasional misting can help prevent leaf tip drying.

• Fertilizing: Can be fertilized monthly during the growing season (spring–summer) with a fertilizer for green plants.

• Care: Low. It is recommended to wipe dust off the leaves and rotate the pot periodically for even growth. Leaf tips can be trimmed if they dry out.

• Propagation: By stem cuttings or air layering, but it is a slow process and requires patience.
