Vanilla Planifolia 'Albo-Variegata' of vanilleorchidee - een botanische soort die zowel door verzamelaars als vanwege zijn geurende peulen zeer gewaardeerd wordt en een hoge handelswaarde heeft. Tegenwoordig is de waarde van vanillepeulen zelfs hoger dan die van zilver.

Vanilla is een snelgroeiende plant, epifytisch of half-epifytisch, met groene of bontbladige bladeren. De liaan kan indrukwekkende lengtes bereiken tot wel 60 m en heeft luchtwortels die de plant helpen klimmen door zich vast te hechten aan boomstammen, rotsen of andere ondergronden die hij tegenkomt. Naarmate de plant groeit, worden de liaan dikker zodat de plant zijn gewicht kan dragen.

This is truely an exceptional, outstanding little plant end that normally so difficult to fiind. It is not as difficult to make them grow as I initially thought, way easier than many other orchids. When spring arrives and they get the temperature and light they need, they grow very well. This is the secret though : wait until they get used to their new home and then replant them. I did it keeping the sphagnum they are planted in. Use a bigger pot and use the medium sold here. It is absolutely perfect.

They make friends, family and colleagues happy as a small gift. One other thing that made me purchasing them over and over again is thet the team takes a very particular care packing your plant. This is such a delicate litle orchid that it would not forgive a poor shipping job.
