Saintpaulia, popularly known as the African Violet, is one of the most beloved houseplants, appreciated for its compact growth, velvety leaves and abundant flowering, which can occur repeatedly throughout the year under good growing conditions.

The flowers can be single, semi-double or double and appear in a very wide range of colours, from violet, blue and pink to red, white or bicolour combinations. The leaves are fleshy, velvety and green, forming a compact rosette that is highly decorative even outside the flowering period.

• Watering method: bottom watering or watering directly at substrate level is recommended, avoiding water remaining on the leaves and in the centre of the rosette
• Humidity: prefers moderate atmospheric humidity; direct misting of the leaves is not recommended
• Substrate: light, airy and well-drained, but able to retain sufficient moisture for the fine roots
• Fertilisation: during the growing and flowering periods, a fertiliser for flowering plants can be applied periodically, following the recommended doses
• Repotting: carried out when the substrate has deteriorated or the plant has filled the pot; Saintpaulia prefers relatively compact pots

👉 For healthy root development, we recommend a fine, airy and well-drained substrate suitable for plants with a delicate root system. It is important for the mix to retain sufficient moisture without remaining constantly wet, as excess water can encourage root damage.
