Culvita Potgrond Veenvrij 40 L is a universal peat-free substrate designed for planting and repotting a wide range of indoor and outdoor plants. It is a more sustainable choice than traditional peat-based substrates, as it is made 100% from circular raw materials.

The mixture has an airy structure, suitable for root system development, and contains biofibres, compost and wood fibres, as well as lava meal and organic fertilizer. The included fertilizer works for approximately 60-90 days, depending on environmental conditions.

🌍 Why choose a peat-free substrate

Peat has traditionally been used for its excellent ability to retain water and nutrients. Culvita Potgrond Veenvrij replaces peat with a combination of circular raw materials, thereby reducing the carbon footprint associated with the product. 

However, one important particularity should be taken into account: peat-free substrates retain less water and nutrients than traditional peat-based substrates. For this reason, plants may require slightly more frequent watering and fertilization.

Culvita recommends it for almost all indoor and outdoor plants. For acid-loving plants, specific substrates with an adapted pH are recommended.

💧 Directions for use

• Loosen the contents of the bag before use.

• Moisten the plant's root ball thoroughly before transplanting.

• Use a container with drainage holes.

• Add substrate, position the plant, and fill in around the roots.

• Leave approximately 1-2 cm up to the rim of the pot.

• Water thoroughly after planting, allowing excess water to drain completely. 

Important: peat-free substrate can dry out faster than conventional substrate. Check the moisture more frequently and avoid allowing the mixture to dry out completely for extended periods. 

🌿 Fertilization

The included organic fertilizer is effective for approximately 60–90 days, depending on temperature, watering, and growing conditions.

Because organic fertilizer is not released as controllably as mineral fertilizer and peat-free substrate has a lower capacity to buffer nutrients, supplementary fertilization may be needed earlier than with a conventional substrate.

📌 Note

As a peat-free substrate, it may require more frequent watering and fertilizing compared with a conventional substrate. Do not allow the mixture to dry out completely for long periods. 

The substrate may sometimes feel slightly warm to the touch. This is normal and occurs because the organic and circular raw materials may temporarily continue certain biological processes after packaging. This does not affect the product's quality. 

Because it is made from natural materials, there may be slight differences in texture, moisture, density, compaction, and volume between packages.
