Stapelia leendertziae - suculenta ciudata, fascinanta si unica
Stapelia leendertziae is a succulent native to South Africa, known for its spectacular bell-shaped flowers, dark maroon to purple in color, with a velvety texture and dramatic appearance. It is an unusual collector’s plant, perfect for enthusiasts of rare succulents and exotic flowers.
The stems are fleshy, star-shaped in cross-section, with scalloped edges and a deep green shade. The plant forms a low bush, spreading sideways, and under good conditions blooms in warm months, producing large, solitary, waxy flowers that immediately catch the eye. Like other stapelias, the flowers may emit a slight unpleasant odor, meant to attract specific pollinators from its natural habitat.
