Solanum Jasminoides (climbing jasmine)
Solanum jasminoides is a perennial climbing plant valued for its flowers and its ability to grow quickly. This plant is native to South America.
Care:
Light: Solanum jasminoides prefers direct sunlight, but can also tolerate partial shade. Flowering is more abundant in full sun. Avoid shade, which can reduce flowering and make the plant more susceptible to disease.
Soil: The plant prefers a well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. A fertile soil, with a neutral to slightly acidic pH, is ideal.
Watering: Watering must be regular, keeping the soil evenly moist, but not saturated. During the summer, water the plant 1-2 times a week. In winter, reduce watering.
Temperature: Solanum jasminoides prefers moderate temperatures, between 15-25°C. It is sensitive to frost and must be protected in areas with cold winters. It tolerates low temperatures up to -5 degrees Celsius, but prefers warm and bright places.
Humidity: The plant tolerates moderate humidity well. In dry air conditions, periodically spray the leaves with water to maintain the necessary humidity.
Fertilization: Fertilize the plant once every 4-6 weeks during the period of active growth (spring and summer) with a balanced fertilizer for flowering plants.
Pruning: Prune the plant regularly to maintain the desired shape and to stimulate branching. Remove dead or damaged branches to keep the plant healthy.
Propagation: Solanum jasminoides is easily propagated by stem cuttings taken in spring or summer. Cut cuttings approximately 10-15 cm long, remove the lower leaves and plant them in well-drained soil.
