Full description and specifications

Sambucus nigra 'Madonna', also known as black elderberry 'Madonna', is a variety with a double role, being both decorative and productive. This plant is especially appreciated for its variegated leaves, with bright yellow edges that can add a splash of color to any garden.

The flowers of the 'Madonna' elderberry are used as in the case of other varieties for teas, sodas, lemonades, etc.. The fruits are also edible and can be used to make jams or wine, although it should be noted that they should be cooked before consumption, because raw fruits can be toxic.

Like any elder, Sambucus nigra 'Madonna' is a very hardy and easy-to-grow plant that can tolerate a variety of soil and light conditions, although it prefers sunny or partially shaded places with well-drained soil.

Pot size: 17 cm

Height with pots included: 50-80 cm (depending on the season)

Plants for the garden or terrace are grown in unprotected spaces or with minimal protection (shading nets or anti-hail nets). For this reason, naturally, they cannot have perfect foliage - the leaves can show traces, defects or other damages.

In the cold season, the plants enter the period of vegetative rest.
