This small perennial hybrid is perfect for rock gardens, borders, ground cover, and pots, where it forms lush carpets of flowers in spring.

Originating from the mountainous regions of Europe, ‘Touran Scarlet’ is a highly hardy plant, able to withstand cold and bring a burst of colour to the garden even before other perennials begin to bloom.

Care instructions

Saxifraga × arendsii ‘Touran Scarlet’ is easy to care for and suited to temperate climates, preferring well-drained soil and filtered light:

🌿 Light: Preferably partial sun or light shade. Avoid strong sun in areas with hot summers.

🌡️ Temperature: Excellent frost resistance, tolerates temperatures down to -20°C, but sensitive to excessive heat.

💧 Watering: Moderate; keep the soil lightly moist, but avoid overwatering, which can cause root rot.

🌱 Soil: Preferably humus-rich, well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral. Grows well in sandy or stony soils.

🌿 Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser (NPK 10-10-10) every 2 months during the growing season to support flowering.

🪴 Repotting and division: Recommended every 3-4 years to maintain vigour and prevent overcrowding.

Saxifraga × arendsii ‘Touran Scarlet’ is the perfect choice for alpine gardens, borders, rockeries, and floral arrangements in pots, thanks to its compact form and abundant flowering. Its intense scarlet-red colour adds a vibrant and lively touch to the landscape, making this plant an essential element in garden design.
