Plumbago auriculata (flower of love)
Full description and specifications
Plumbago auriculata, popularly known as the "Flower of Love", is a perennial climbing plant, originally from South Africa. It stands out for its delicate blue-cerulean flowers, grouped in inflorescences. These flowers appear throughout the summer and autumn, giving a special appearance to the garden or balcony. The leaves are dark green, oval and slightly elongated.
Care:
- Light: Plumbago auriculata needs a lot of light, ideally it should be placed in full sun. The more light it receives, the more abundantly it will bloom.
- Temperature: The plant prefers moderate temperatures, between 15-25 degrees Celsius. It does not tolerate frost, so in areas with cold winters it must be brought indoors.
- Watering: Water regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist, but not soaked with water. Avoid water stagnation, because it can lead to rotting of the roots.
- Soil: Plumbago auriculata prefers a well-drained soil, rich in humus.
- Fertilizer: Fertilize regularly, once a month, during the growing season, with a fertilizer for flowering plants.
- Pruning: To stimulate flowering and to maintain the compact shape of the plant, regular pruning of the branches is recommended.
- Wintering: In areas with cold winters, the plant must be brought to a bright and cool place, where the temperature should not drop below 10 degrees Celsius.
Height is always measured with pots.
Careful! This plant is heat-sensitive - it could reach you without flowers!
