Pinguicula is a genus of carnivorous plants, also known as butterworts or carnivorous fat plants , valued for their glossy leaves, covered with sticky secretions that attract and digest insects. They are part of the Lentibulariaceae family and are native to temperate and tropical areas of Europe, North America and Central America.

• Plant type: perennial or annual, herbaceous, carnivorous
• Leaves: arranged in a rosette, flat or slightly wavy, covered with sticky glands that catch insects
• Flowers: delicate, solitary, in shades of purple, blue, pink or white; resembles those of violets

• Light: intense indirect light or partial shade
• Soil: poor, well-drained substrate - mixture of acidic peat and sand/perlite (without fertilizers) - especially for carnivores.
• Watering: through the tray – keep constantly moist, using only distilled or rainwater
• Humidity: medium to high
• Temperature: most prefer 15–25°C, but resistance differs depending on the species (there are subtropical and mountain varieties)
