Phalaenopsis Equalacea 'Smurf'
Phalaenopsis Equalacea is a classic primary hybrid, obtained by crossing Phalaenopsis equestris and Phalaenopsis violacea. It is one of the more appreciated primary hybrids due to its good vigor, compact-medium size, and ability to bloom consistently over long periods.
The plant inherits a relatively compact growth and numerous flowers from Phal. equestris, and color and texture influences from Phal. violacea. The flowers are 5–7 cm, in shades of pink, pink-lavender, or pink-purple, with a darker lip. Many specimens have a branched inflorescence or produce successive flowers on the same stem, offering prolonged blooming.
