Muscata trandafir - Pelargonium Royal Rosebud ‘Dronning Ingrid’
Pelargonium 'DRONNING INGRID' is a zonal geranium from the "Royal Rosebud" series, known for its dense flowers and distinctive bud shape, hence the popular name rose geranium. This variety is a royal presence in any space, bringing a special elegance and abundant flowering.
Detailed Description:
- Flowers: The essential characteristic of 'DRONNING INGRID' are its large, fully double flowers, which retain their compact rosebud or mini-tulip shape even when opened. The inflorescences are spherical, very full and spectacular, appearing abundantly throughout the warm season, from spring until the first frosts.
- Leaves: The leaves are medium to dark green in color and have a distinct zonation , in the form of a darker ring in the center of the leaf. This zonation adds an additional decorative element. The leaves are round, slightly lobed and have a slightly velvety texture, which can give off a specific fragrance to the touch.
- Habit: The plant has an erect, compact and well-branched habit, forming a dense and balanced bush. This robust growth makes it ideal for growing in pots, planters and flower beds, maintaining a tidy and full appearance.
- Dimensions: 'DRONNING INGRID' generally reaches a height of approximately 30-45 cm and a similar width, being a medium-sized plant with a notable presence.
- Winter hardiness: Like all Pelargonium species, it is not frost resistant . In Romania, it is grown as an annual plant or must be wintered indoors, in a bright and cool space, with minimal watering during the dormant period.
Key Features:
- "Rosebud" type: Its double flowers, which remain close together, give it a distinctive appearance and a special charm, differentiating it from traditional geraniums.
- Abundant and Long-Lasting Blooming: Offers a continuous and rich floral show throughout the warm season.
- Compact and Robust: Easy to maintain and ideal for various types of containers and landscaping.
- Decorative Zoned Leaves: Adds visual interest even in the absence of flowers.
- Popularity and Reliability: It is a variety tested and appreciated by gardeners for its consistent performance and the beauty of its flowers.
Care and requirements:
It requires a sunny location, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, and well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Watering should be moderate, keeping the soil slightly moist, with breaks between sessions to avoid excess water. It is resistant to rain, but sensitive to temperatures below 5°C, requiring winter protection (moving indoors or storing in a cool, dry place). Removing wilted flowers stimulates continuous flowering.
The color of the flowers may vary slightly depending on location and light conditions. This variety is appreciated for its stability in cultivation and its ability to withstand difficult conditions.
❗ Note : Due to international shipping and adaptation to the new environment, geranium leaves may show small defects or may partially fall off. These changes are normal and temporary and do not affect the overall health of the plant. The plants grow quickly and recover easily if given optimal conditions.
The plant may arrive to you with or without flowers , but it is capable of blooming throughout the summer.
