


Miniature daffodils - Narcissus Bulbocodium 'Oxford Gold' (Golden Bell)

Narcissus bulbocodium 'Oxford Gold' (Golden Bells) is a spectacular variety of miniature daffodil, also known as the 'crinoline daffodil' due to its unique shape. It is part of the Bulbocodium group, and is prized for its very broad, trumpet-shaped crown that completely dominates the flower. It is an excellent choice for spring gardens, borders, rockeries and pots.
🔹 Botanical characteristics:
• Habit: Small bulbous plant, approximately 15–20 cm tall, ideal for low beds and borders.
• Flowers: Solitary, golden yellow , with a dominant and wide-open corolla , resembling a funnel or crinoline skirt. The actual petals are reduced, short and retracted, which accentuates the special shape of the flower. It blooms early, in spring (March-April), often among the first flowers in the garden.
• Leaves: Thin, grass-like, blue-green leaves that appear at the base and provide a delicate contrast to the flowers.
🔹 Recommended growing conditions:
• Light: Prefers full sun or partial shade , especially in areas with cool, wet springs.
• Soil: Well-drained, light, sandy or stony, with neutral to slightly acidic pH. Does not tolerate excess moisture, especially in winter.
• Planting: Autumn, at a depth of approximately 5–8 cm.
• Watering: Moderate during the active period. After flowering, reduce watering as the foliage dries naturally.

• Combines beautifully with other small spring plants, such as scilla, muscari, crocus or other dwarf daffodils
