Goji in pots - Lycium barbarum
Lycium barbarum (Goji) is a beautiful and attractive ornamental shrub that produces orange-colored fruits from late August.
Features and care instructions:
- Resistant to drought and frost (-25 degrees Celsius)
- All types of soil are suitable, except sand.
- Place in sun or partial sun.
- Goji can generally be cut to the desired height at any time. The harvest time can be delayed by cutting it later in the season, for example in May.
- Flowering period: May - June.
Originally from China, Goji berries are extremely nutritious and have been used as medicine for years, but they are also very useful in the kitchen. These fruits contain a wealth of vitamins and are therefore part of the "Super Fruit" category. They are also delicious when dried.
Its nutrients include amino acids, carotene, resin and polysaccharides which are said to have anti-aging properties and counteract vision loss, respiratory problems and dizziness. The Chinese claim that regular consumption of Goji berries will keep your body young.
