Full description and specifications

Liparis viridiflora is a medium-sized orchid that can be found as an epiphyte, terrestrial or lithophyte in Assam, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, lower India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, China , Borneo, Java, Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, New Guinea and Taiwan. This plant adapts to broad-leaved, sempervirescent, lowland forests and on highly eroded and stratified calcareous rocks at altitudes that vary between 300 and 2500 meters.

Liparis viridiflora is characterized by short and ovoid to long and cylindrical pseudobulbs, supporting two obovate-oblong or oblanceolate leaves, which can be obtuse, acute or acuminate. This orchid blooms with greater frequency in late autumn until the beginning of winter on an erect, cylindrical stem, up to 25 cm long, thin, dense and with many flowers. The inflorescence is racemose and is accompanied by small, lanceolate, acuminate and scarious bracts, with very small and crowded flowers.

Flowers with shades of green and yellow are characteristic of this species, and its care outside the natural habitat implies special attention to humidity, temperature and indirect light. It is a species appreciated by orchid collectors and growers for its diversity and adaptability to different growing environments.
