Kalanchoe tubiflora, commonly known as Mother of Millions, is an exotic and spectacular succulent, recognized for its thin, tubular, gray-green leaves with brown spots, along the edges of which numerous plantlets (vegetative buds) appear. This amazing phenomenon gives it its common name, as a single plant can produce hundreds of pups in a short time.

🌿 Botanical characteristics:

  • Full name: Kalanchoe tubiflora (syn. Bryophyllum tubiflorum)

  • Family: Crassulaceae

  • Origin: Madagascar

  • Leaves: Tubular, gray-green with brown spots, edges sprinkled with plantlets

  • Habit: Upright, fast-growing, reaching up to 1 m in height under ideal conditions

🌞 Growing conditions:

  • Light: Direct sun or intense light; insufficient light leads to stem elongation

  • Watering: Low; let the substrate dry completely between waterings

  • Soil: Very well-drained, ideal substrate for cacti and succulents

  • Temperature: 18–28°C; sensitive below 10°C

  • Maintenance: Extremely resilient and self-sufficient plant, propagates very easily through plantlets

Why it’s worth choosing:

  • Unusual plant with spectacular tubular leaves

  • Amazing ability to multiply through “pups” formed on the leaf edges

  • Easy to care for, ideal for succulent collectors

  • Creates an exotic visual impact in pots or mixed arrangements

⚠️ Note: It is a species with extremely rapid propagation; in warm areas it can become invasive, but in Romania it is grown only as an indoor plant.
