Full description and specifications

Hydrangea anomala ssp. petiolaris, also known as climbing hydrangea, is a perennial, woody plant native to East Asia, especially Japan, Korea and Taiwan. This plant is part of the Hydrangeaceae family and is characterized by its ability to climb vertical surfaces, such as walls, fences or tree trunks.

The climbing hydrangea grows in the form of bushes and can reach heights of up to 9-12 meters when grown in good conditions. Its leaves are oval, dark green, with toothed edges, and the flowers are grouped in large inflorescences, similar to those of other species of hydrangeas. The flowers are white or cream, with a delicate and elegant appearance, and appear in the summer, offering a special visual spectacle.

Hydrangea anomala ssp. petiolaris is a resistant plant and easy to care for. It prefers places with semi-shade or partial shade and well-drained soils, rich in humus. This species of hydrangea needs a support to climb on (fences, pergolas, etc.) and can be fixed on vertical surfaces with the help of aerial roots.

Plants for the garden or terrace are grown in unprotected spaces or with minimal protection (shading nets or anti-hail nets). For this reason, naturally, they cannot have perfect foliage - the leaves can show traces, defects or other damages.

In the cold season, the plants go dormant, are shortened and are leafless.
