Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are small, star-shaped, finely pubescent, and creamy white, with a pale yellow corona, grouped in umbels. The fragrance is characteristic of the lacunosa group and is perceived especially in the evening. The flowers last for several days. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The accepted botanical name of the species is Hoya lacunosa Blume, published in 1827. Its native range extends from southern Myanmar to western and central Malesia. 'Silver leaves' is the label for this foliage selection. It is not Hoya krohniana, although the flowers are similar.
