Hortensie arbustiva - Hydrangea paniculata 'Petite Polestar'®
Hydrangea paniculata 'Petite Polestar'® is a dwarf and very compact variety of panicle hydrangea, ideal for small gardens, terraces, balconies, or large pots. It belongs to the "Petite" series, being one of the smallest panicle hydrangeas available.
Unlike large-flowered hydrangeas (Hydrangea macrophylla), the flower color of Hydrangea paniculata is not affected by soil pH. The flowers start as a pure creamy white and gradually turn light pink to reddish pink as they age, providing a beautiful and natural effect throughout summer and autumn.
Main features:
- Compact size at maturity: 50–80 cm in height and width
- White flowers that naturally turn pink (without pH influence)
- Flowering period: July – October (long and abundant)
- Elegant, dense, and compact appearance
- Excellent cold resistance
Easy care:
- Light: full sun or partial shade (flowers more abundantly in sun)
- Soil: rich, well-drained, with consistent moisture
- Watering: regular, especially during dry periods
- Pruning: early spring (cut back last year’s shoots)
- Hardiness: very good cold tolerance (down to -40°C)
Recommended substrate: For optimal growth and abundant flowering, a quality substrate for ornamental shrubs and hydrangeas is recommended. → Professional substrate for acid-loving plants and hydrangeas - Secret Garden
Recommended uses: Excellent for small gardens, borders, large pots on terraces or balconies, as well as urban or modern spaces. Due to its small size, it is one of the most practical panicle hydrangeas for containers and compact gardens.
Hydrangea paniculata 'Petite Polestar'® is an excellent choice if you want a small, hardy hydrangea with long flowering and beautiful color that changes naturally without any soil pH intervention. An elegant, generous plant very suitable for limited spaces!
Note: The flowers start white, then color and transform as the plant matures.
Cold hardiness: down to -40°C
Pot size: 17 cm
Height including pot: 40-60 cm (varies depending on season)
