Full description and specifications

Fockea Edulis - endemic caudiciform succulent from South Africa and Namibia. The plant develops an impressive caudex, from which thin branches appear that develop in the form of liana and can climb any support.
The caudex reaches a size of 60 cm and the vines can reach a length of up to 4 meters.
The flowers are white-green and have a size of up to 1.5 cm. Flowering generally takes place in the warm season.
The root/caudex is edible, having a slightly sweet taste. Some sources claim that the latex from the caudex has a degree of toxicity.
The plant requires minimal care, and watering should be done very rarely, when the caudex shows signs of dehydration. A substrate with good drainage is required. Tolerates occasional temperatures up to -2 °C. Growth slows down between January and April, but the plant does not go completely dormant and part of the foliage is permanently green.
Other known names: Hottentot bread, Fockea Edula,
Synonyms: Brachystelma macrorrhizum, Chymocormus edulis, Echites edulis, Fockea cylindrica, Fockea glabra, Pergularia edulis
