Eucalipt - Eucalyptus 'Moon Lagoon' bush (cultivar pitic)
Eucalyptus 'Moon Lagoon' - a special cultivar featuring unique foliage - the leaves are small, oval-pointed, and silvery. It is an easy-to-grow shrub, compact, well-branched, evergreen, with rapid growth and high resistance to low temperatures. This eucalyptus is a natural hybrid between Eucalyptus kruseana and Eucalyptus latens, naturally occurring in Australia on the Moon Lagoon property, from which the plant’s name derives.
Eucalyptus 'Moon Lagoon' is naturally a dwarf cultivar that branches very well and does not exceed a height of 3 m. The leaves are silvery when young but turn blue-green as they mature (as with other eucalyptus varieties). To maintain a more "silver" appearance, it is recommended to perform renewal prunings during the growing seasons.
Eucalyptus is naturally a good repellent for flies and mosquitoes, which is why it is often grown on terraces or in gardens. Due to its hardiness, it is also used as a windbreak, for covering fences, and so on.
The foliage is frequently used in floral arrangements and bouquets because of its appearance and distinctive scent - the plants are trimmed several times a year and then branch out quickly. In some countries, this variety is grown and harvested extensively for its hardwood, which can be used in construction, furniture making, or as fuel. The sap extracted from this tree is a good insecticide and natural repellent.
It is recommended to carry out spring prunings to stimulate branching and the emergence of many new shoots.
It does not require special soil and is resistant to diseases and pests, being naturally considered "pest free". It withstands temperatures down to -18 °C without needing winter protection.
Note: This variety may show leaves/branches with defects or affected new growth, especially in the warm season - these aspects are due to international transport (these are imported plants), are characteristic of the species (it is a more sensitive variety), and do not affect the plants’ viability.
The decorative ceramic pot is not included in the price.
Height including pot: approx. 30 cm
Recommendation: We recommend planting the eucalyptus in the garden or in large pots placed outdoors during the summer. It is an outdoor plant and does not fare well long-term in small pots. Do not expose the plant to strong sunlight before planting.
