Branched edible bay leaf

Laurus Nobilis, also known as bay or laurel, is a tree or shrub native to the Mediterranean region. It is highly valued both for its ornamental value and for the culinary use of its aromatic leaves.
The tree can reach heights of up to 10-18 meters, although it is often kept much smaller, especially when grown in pots. The leaves are lanceolate, dark green, shiny on the surface and duller on the underside. They are frequently used in the kitchen to flavor various dishes.
In terms of care, Laurus Nobilis prefers well-drained soil and a sunny or partial shade position. It is a drought-tolerant plant once it has adapted to the environment in which it is planted, but prefers regular watering during the warmer periods of the year. It is resistant to most types of pests and diseases, making it relatively easy to maintain.
Laurus Nobilis does not tolerate very cold temperatures. It is generally considered hardy to temperatures down to about -7 degrees Celsius, although this figure can vary depending on soil and humidity conditions. In areas where temperatures may drop below this threshold, it is recommended to plant Laurus Nobilis in a sheltered location or to use protective methods such as covering the soil with a layer of mulch to help insulate the roots.
If the plant is kept in pots and exposed to temperatures below zero degrees Celsius, there is a risk of freezing the roots. In this case, it is recommended to move the pots to an indoor space where the temperature does not drop below zero.
Symbolically, laurel has often been associated with victory and success, being used in laurel wreaths that were offered in antiquity to people of great merit or heroes.
