Curcuma longa, commonly known as Turmeric or Curcuma, is a perennial plant from the Zingiberaceae family, the same family as ginger. Originally from South Asia, especially from India, turmeric is both a plant with culinary and medicinal value.

Cold resistance: the root (rhizome) can withstand up to -10C - in the case of outdoor growth, it is recommended to apply a layer of mulch for protection during the cold season.
