Clematis ‘Rollercoaster’ is a deciduous climbing plant that can reach a height of about 2-2.5 meters. Its leaves are medium green, and the flowers, which appear in late spring and early summer, are double, in a light violet color. After a pause during the summer, the plant produces a second wave of simple flowers in the same shade, in early autumn. This variety belongs to group 2 of early large-flowered clematis.

Growing recommendations:

Large-flowered clematis prefer good quality soil, with high nutrient levels and good moisture, but well drained – they do not tolerate swampy soils where water stagnates. It is recommended to improve the soil at planting with manure or compost, if possible. In the case of cultivation in drier soils, which tend to dry out quickly, cover the base with a layer of shredded bark (or another type of mulch) to retain soil moisture.

Clematis generally prefer a growing space with good sun exposure.

If your clematis blooms in May-June (late spring), cut off the dead flower heads after they have finished to encourage a second flowering at the end of summer or autumn.

Be prepared to wait a few years until your clematis reaches its best form.

First year = roots, second year = shoots and branching, third year = consistent and proper flowering.

In the cold season, the plants appear as leafless sticks that seem dry – this appearance is perfectly normal and the plants are as viable as can be.
