Growing recommendations for Clematis montana and their hybrids.
Clematis montana and their hybrids are ideal plants to surround the outlines of buildings or to cover fences and walls. You should keep in mind that they are vigorous plants. They will look fabulous even if allowed to climb large mature trees, as they would in the wild.
Clematis montana prefers well-drained soils – the roots can deteriorate if planted in marshy areas. If necessary, pruning should be done immediately after flowering has finished. Avoid overwatering in their first autumn and winter in the ground or, alternatively, plant them in spring.
In the cold season, the plants are sold shortened and without leaves.
