Clematis forsteri ‘Joe’ is a cultivar of evergreen clematis (sometimes semi-evergreen, depending on the climate) native to New Zealand. It appears as woody climbing vines.

The leaves are arranged opposite, usually trifoliate, each leaflet having an elliptic-lanceolate shape, with slightly wavy or entire edges. The leaf texture is glossy and relatively thick, which gives the plant good resistance to moisture changes. In a suitable climate, this clematis retains most of its foliage throughout the year.

The flowers are medium-sized (around 4 cm) and star-shaped, with petals in shades of cream or off-white, sometimes with greenish tints, especially near the base. The flowers appear from March to April and are lightly scented, with a delicate fragrance that attracts pollinating insects. The stamens are numerous, thin, and arranged concentrically, with pale yellow anthers. After flowering, fluffy fruiting bodies form, represented by achenes covered with long hairs.

Clematis forsteri ‘Joe’ prefers sunny or partly shaded areas, with well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral soil. The plant needs consistent moisture, but not excessive. Light pruning after flowering is recommended to encourage growth/branching and to keep the plant in an orderly shape.
