Clematis 'Fascination'

Clematis 'Fascination' is a spectacular hybrid created in the Netherlands by breeder Wim Snoeijer, belonging to the Diversifolia group. The plant stands out for its impressive bell-shaped flowers, with petals recurved at the tips, creating a unique visual effect.

Main characteristics

• Flowers:
  • Color: intense violet, with lighter edges (sometimes described as blue-violet or purple).
  • Shape: bell-shaped, with petals curved at the tips.
  • Size: diameter of 2.5-4 cm.
  • Stamens: pale yellow, providing a beautiful contrast with the petals.
  • Fragrance: lightly scented, especially in full sun.
  • Flowering period: June-August, sometimes until September.
• Height:
  • Grows up to 1.5-2 meters, being semi-climbing, with herbaceous stems that require support (trellises, fences, shrubs, or large containers).
• Leaves and seeds:
  • After flowering, silver decorative seed heads appear, adding visual interest in autumn.

Growing conditions

• Soil: fertile, well-drained, with roots kept in the shade.
• Exposure: sun or partial shade for the upper part.
• Maintenance:
  • Belongs to pruning group 3 – prune drastically in spring, 20 cm above the ground, to stimulate flowering on new growth.
  • Disease resistant and easy to care for.
