Clematite de iarna, evergreen - Clematis cirrhosa 'Lansdowne Gem' (flori parfumate)
Clematis cirrhosa 'Lansdowne Gem' is a perennial climbing plant, valued for its distinctive flowers that appear especially during the colder months of the year.
This variety grows vigorously, reaching heights of up to 3-4 meters. The leaves are semi-evergreen, meaning some of them remain on the plant throughout the winter, depending on the climatic conditions. In cases of severe winters, the plant may lose all its leaves.
Flowering generally begins in November or December and can continue until February or March.
The delicate bell-shaped flowers are wine red on the inside, with a cream underside and cream anthers. The plant was discovered as a mutation of the 'Freckles' variety in 1995 by Merv Jerard from Lansdowne Valley, Christchurch, New Zealand.
The flowers are fragrant, with a slight hint of citrus.
To encourage proper and abundant winter flowering, as well as to preserve the foliage, it is recommended to place the plant in areas sheltered from blizzards and strong drafts.
Attention – under certain conditions, Clematis cirrhosa may enter dormancy during the warm season, in which case watering should be reduced. Dormancy may also involve some deterioration of the foliage.
