Catasetum saccatum 'Beard'

Catasetum saccatum is an interesting orchid that grows in tropical mountain forests in countries such as Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil.

It blooms mainly in the winter or spring season. The flowers are strongly scented and can be up to 10 cm in size. They are known for an unusual thing: they can throw pollen at a distance of up to 2.5 meters from the plant.
