Malpighia glabra , also known as Acerola or Tropical Cherry , is an exotic species native to Central and South America, which lends itself excellently to bonsai cultivation. It is distinguished by its small, glossy leaves , compact growth and, under optimal conditions, can produce pink flowers and small, red, decorative fruits .
