Anthurium polyschistum is an unusual species of anthurium, native to Central and South America, highly prized by collectors for its unique leaves. Unlike other anthuriums, this species has palmate-compound leaves, with 5–7 lanceolate lobes, dark green, similar to cannabis leaves or the leaves of tropical trees. The texture is smooth, velvety, and the architectural appearance makes this plant a centerpiece in aroid collections.

🌿 Botanical characteristics:

  • Full name: Anthurium polyschistum

  • Family: Araceae

  • Origin: Central and South America

  • Growth type: Epiphytic or terrestrial plant, perennial

  • Leaves: Palmato-compound, with 5–7 lobes, dark green, with a delicate appearance and elegant texture

  • Flowers: Typical anthurium inflorescences (spades + discrete spathe), but the plant is grown mainly for its foliage

🌞 Growing conditions:

  • Light: Prefers indirect, diffused light; avoid strong direct sun

  • Soil: Aerated, very well-drained substrate based on bark, peat and perlite (mix for aroids/epiphytes)

  • Watering: Moderate; keep the soil moist, but not soaked.

  • Optimum temperature: 18–26°C; sensitive to cold below 15°C

  • Humidity: High (60–80%); prefers tropical environment and regular spraying

Advantages and uses:

  • Rare plant, highly sought after by aroid collectors

  • Exotic, palmate-compound foliage with a spectacular and architectural appearance

  • Ideal for modern spaces, tropical plant collections and elegant decors

  • Creates a strong contrast with anthuriums with simple or heart-shaped leaves

⚠️ Note: The leaves are sensitive to dry air and large temperature fluctuations; the edges may show drying or spots, but the plant remains viable and regenerates its foliage.
