Corylus avellana 'Nottingham Fruehe' is an early variety of hazelnut, grown commercially or in gardens for its edible fruit. It grows to a height of 3-4 metres and has a compact appearance, with a rich crown and glossy green leaves.

The Nottingham Hazelnut is notable for bearing fruit early in the harvest season, compared to other common hazelnut varieties. The hazelnuts are above average in size and have a superior taste.

This variety is self-fertile, but production improves significantly when cross-pollinated with another variety.
