Variegated blueberry - Vaccinium corymbosum 'Flamingo'
Vaccinium corymbosum 'Flamingo', also known as American blueberry 'Flamingo', is a remarkable variety of blueberry shrub. It is appreciated both for its delicious fruits and for its ornamental appearance.
The 'Flamingo' shrub produces large blueberry fruits, rich in antioxidants and vitamins, which can be eaten fresh or used in various culinary preparations, from cakes to sauces. Flowering takes place at the beginning of summer, followed by fruit ripening towards the end of the warm season.
One of the most attractive aspects of this variety is, however, its colorful foliage. The leaves of 'Flamingo' are pale pink when they emerge, turning green as they mature, and take on shades of red and orange in autumn, adding a touch of vibrant color to the garden all year round.
Vaccinium corymbosum 'Flamingo' is a robust shrub, resistant to low temperatures of up to -30 degrees Celsius and to drought . It prefers a well-drained, slightly acidic soil and sunny or partially shaded places.
Height with pots included: approx. 60-70 cm
Pot diameter: 17 cm
Note: Plants with normal leaves are delivered - the variegation depends on the season, exposure to the sun and usually appears on the new leaves (which then return to a normal green leaf appearance).
Plants for the garden or terrace are grown in unprotected spaces or with minimal protection (shading nets or anti-hail nets). For this reason, naturally, they cannot have perfect foliage - the leaves can show traces, defects or other damages.
In the cold season, the plants enter the period of vegetative rest.
