Afin variegat - Vaccinium corymbosum 'Flamingo'
Vaccinium corymbosum 'Flamingo', also known as the American blueberry 'Flamingo', is a remarkable variety of blueberry shrub. It is valued both for its delicious fruits and its ornamental appearance.
The 'Flamingo' shrub produces large blueberries, rich in antioxidants and vitamins, which can be eaten fresh or used in various culinary dishes, from cakes to sauces. Flowering occurs at the beginning of summer, followed by fruit ripening towards the end of the warm season.
One of the most attractive features of this variety is, however, its colorful foliage. The leaves of 'Flamingo' are pale pink when they first appear, turning green as they mature, and take on shades of red and orange in autumn, thus adding a vibrant touch of color to the garden throughout the year.
Vaccinium corymbosum 'Flamingo' is a sturdy shrub, resistant to low temperatures down to -30 degrees Celsius and drought. It prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil and sunny or partly shaded places.
Height including pot: approx. 60-70 cm
Pot diameter: 17 cm
Note: Plants are delivered with normal leaves – variegation depends on the season, sun exposure, and usually appears on new leaves (which then return to a normal green leaf appearance).
Garden or terrace plants are grown in unprotected spaces or with minimal protection (shade nets or hail nets). For this reason, naturally, they cannot have perfect foliage – leaves may show marks, defects, or other damage.
During the cold season, plants enter a period of dormancy.
