Blueberry, cranberry - Vaccinium macrocarpon 'Early Black'
Vaccinium macrocarpon Early Black is a variety of American blueberry, also known as cranberry. This variety is native to North America, where it grows in regions with a temperate climate and develops best in acidic, moist soils rich in organic matter.
Early Black is a popular variety due to the fact that it is one of the first cranberry varieties to ripen, having dark colored fruits and a high productivity. The fruits are round, of medium to large size, having a dark-black color when ripe. They are appreciated for their sour but sweet taste, being used in various food products, such as juices, jams, jellies, sauces and drinks.
In recent years, the cranberry has become known for its health benefits, especially due to its high content of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. The fruits have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial properties and can contribute to the prevention of urinary tract infections and cardiovascular diseases.
Resistance: resistant to -30 degrees Celsius and drought. Immune to most diseases and pests. It does not require spraying and is generally considered 'Pest Free'.
